Business Process Redesign / Reengineering / BPR
Reengineering was the term coined by Mike Hammer and Jim Champy in the late 1980s for revolutionary business change. KCG's founders both worked with Mike and Jim at that time and were part of the small circle of consultants that created BPR and brought the concept to the business marketplace - both in the U.S. and in Europe.
Since that time KCG has worked with over 100 companies and organizations on major reengineering or business process redesign engagements. Our role has changed from client to client, and adapted to meet client needs. At one end of the spectrum, we have provided executive education to many management teams so they can start their projects with the full understanding of what's in front of them and the key steps they must make. At the other extreme, we have lead many project teams through the key steps as they renovate their businesses. And, we have had a wide range of intermediate roles depending on our clients needs and wishes.
KCG's approach to business process
reengineering is based on an orderly approach to customer-related process
study and redesign. Having benchmarks and best practice results in many industries
and in most functional areas gives us an advantage in helping our clients
move in the right direction. We also believe that a BPR job is more than just
a clever redesign of one's business processes - it is also a change process.
How the BPR job is done and who is involved, when, have as much to do with
its success as what process innovations are sought. In fact, without great
attention to the change management area, no favorable results might occur.
