Case Study: Business Process Reengineering
International Manufacturer

Situation

Kendall Consulting Group coached over 25 businesss unit reengineering teams under mandate from the COO to deliver major improvements in cost and customer service. We helped launch each of these teams and educated them in an approach to reengineering. Our role then shifted form educator to coach throughout redesign and implementation.

Approach

We customized an approach for each team enabling them to rapidly identify and implement a portfolio of quick hits, routine projects and transformations. These opportunities were discovered in structured breakthrough workshops that helped the management teams identify novel ways of doing business.

Key Value

Teams and individuals in the company are now far better prepared to manage in the 1990's and 2000's. They have learned a methodology and developed their skills in change management. They have experienced success as the result of their efforts. Client staff have learned to work together as a team, and implemented new ways of working together and new organizational models.

Results

Reengineering teams have identified and implemented productivity improvements and reduced costs in total over $200 million dollars. After having success with six reengineering teams three years ago, the management team directed all its business units both domestic and international to reengineer their business processes. Significant benefits continue to be realized by the teams and the company as a whole.
